As the local Thunder Bay startup grew, Border Giant was in need of a new stylish and mobile-friendly website to promote their business. For them I developed and designed a WordPress site with an exclusive theme built from CSS, HTML, and PHP. This enables adding new features and customs layouts on the fly while loading faster than most bloated WordPress themes that are not exclusively built for one company.

Cartoonifying a Brand Mascot

Border Giant's brand is well suited for illustrative promotional materials as one see can from their logo which features their digitally drawn brand mascot, the Border Giant. The Border Giant team especially wanted to make use of him in social media posts and explainer videos, and so I designed an animatable version of the mascot complete with all the required mouth, hand, and facial shapes for expressive speaking and posing.

In addition to the character, I made animation sets from the ground up so that the mascot could be seen in a variety of locations.

Due to ongoing protocols from the COVID-19 Pandemic, it was not possible to meet directly with some of Border Giant's well-known clients to take photos and feature them in our promo materials. So instead my illustration skills were called upon to transform the Thunder Bay business owners into their cartoon counterparts who are immune to all viruses.
